This item was posted as an example. The text describing the bird sighting would go here and the location map should be used. A photo is optional, but in the absence of a photo there should be a description identifying the bird.
Setting up the map The marker can be dragged to the exact location of the sighting, or you can enter the the latitude and longitude or the address. Check the map to be sure the marker ended up in the right place. Google maps sometimes doesn't correctly mark the exact location of an address.

Black Throated Blue Warbler ?
I've been observing birds for years, but this is the first time I've logged onto this site. I was prompted by a bird I saw in a McDonald's parking lot on Central Avnue in Albany, NY on November 9, 2011. The bird was delicate looking and rather slim, about 4.5 -5 " long. Most unusual was the fact that its entire head - from the back of its neck including its head and face right down the front of its neck to the top of its breast - was black. The bird's back seemed to have a kind of irridescent and slightly different color from its head. There were some white markings on its sides. The bird was flitting around a couple of fir trees on the edge of the parking lot.I did not see any others like it.
I took these notes at the time and consulted my guide book later - the only bird I saw that seemed close was the Black-Throated Blue Warbler - would it be migrating this late in the year? (because of the mild weather?)
great bird for our area!
I am just trying out the comment section of the rare bird sighting to see how it works.
