Please report sightings of the following species to Theresa Swenson at the DEC. Email: tgswenso [at] gw [dot] dec [dot] state [dot] ny [dot] us.
Species observed in Greene and Montgomery Counties should be reported to Paul Novak.
- Bald Eagle
- Northern Harrier (high winter numbers and breeding observations)
- Upland Sandpiper
- Short-eared owl
- Horned Lark (breeding observations only)
- Sedge Wren
- Vesper Sparrow
- Henslow's Sparrow
Please also submit observations for these species (except Horned Lark and Vesper Sparrow) to the NY Natural Heritage Program using the
NYSDEC Natural Heritage Reporting Form.
It would also be helpful to report observations of non-avian species of interest. Here's a list: NYSDEC Rare Animal Status List
